An American pastime is the Sunday drive in the car. We love our cars and especially brand new ones. So when it comes to the future of cars we are always excited about what the automotive industry has in store.

So what can we expect for the future of cars and trucks?

Lately we've seen in the combination of technology being implemented into the luxury of cars. You don't have to think far back to a time when you couldn't hook up an iPod to your car. Or when you could sync your computer and planner with your vehicle. Today that is all possible. It is a luxury item that almost everybody is looking for in their cars.

So how will this be extended? With new inventions like the iPad we can expect new kinds of interaction between these kinds of devices. Since e-books are becoming popular within the ipad application I wouldn't be surprised if the reader was soon included within cars as an option.

Also interesting is how cars are being automated. For instance you can buy a Ford that can parallel park itself. Other automakers sound alarms when your car is driving dangerously close to another car.

The use of cameras assist you in seeing what's behind you. Isn't that amazing? What features like this are seen on luxury cars is only a matter of time before all other automakers include these features with their cars. And as these features are mass produced the costs of them will come down.

So yes the immediate future of vehicles are more comfort and the combination/integration of technology.
